Sunshine Coast: YWAM Unites

Updated: Jul 6, 2019

On Sunday morning Beach to Bush and the Health + Fitness schools departed Brisbane and headed north to the beautiful Sunshine Coast for a 5 Day Prayer and Missions Conference.

We left a bit early so we could spend some time at Mooloolomba beach soaking up the sun and getting some nice shots in before our arrival. They had some very nice rock formations along the shore that allowed me to get some nice hipster shots of Grant.

Afterwards we journeyed to the conference where we set up our spot in the tent city of YWAMers, and enjoyed the sun while we had it. Along with Brissy there were 5 other local YWAM Bases represented at this conference including Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast, Twomba, Gold Coast and Bethlehem from New Zealand. Together we participated in an amazing week of  worship, lectures and 24 hour Intercession.

It rained the whole week, and I think we Beach to Bush students were the only ones to stay dry in our properly pitched tents. Despite the rain it was still quite nice. There is something really cool and entrancing about Australian rain, it comes in very intense, short spurts and drowns out any surrounding sounds.

One of my favourite moments of the week took place on Monday night when I blew the plugger on my thong (Flip Flop) on the way back from Maccas and some folks from the Twomba base offered us a ride and fed us muffins. We made it just in time before another torrential rain pour took place and I couldn’t be more thankful in that moment.

That adventure was followed by an all nighter and sunrise at the beach to make use of their showers.

On Wednesday we had a volleyball tournament among the bases of which our 2nd Brisbane team took home the gold.

Despite being ready for round 2, we departed on Thursday and headed home to Brisbane with lots to process from the eventful week.

On Saturday public transportation was free in Brisbane so I took advantage of the opportunity and traveled to Kangaroo Point and enjoyed the afternoon taking photos of the wildlife. Contrary to the name however there were no Kangaroos.

More details on our trip to Borneo are coming, we are in Brissy for the week before going back out on the road for 3 weeks.
