So long Brissy…

Updated: Jul 6, 2019

Over the past 6 months I have had the privilege of learning and serving with YWAM Brisbane, and today we drove away, for potentially the last time, to begin the next leg of my journey.

Our goal for the day, drive to Coffs Harbour. Easy enough, but I wanted to share some of my favourite parts of this magnificent country with my Dad and Brother, so we travelled to Coffs via Warwick and Killarney through the Great Dividing Range.

On our way to Warwick we stopped at the Moogerah Dam. The view in of itself made the detour incredibly worth it, add on top the diverse assortment of birds. The water was so still upon arrival that you could see a near perfect reflection of the mountains across the lake. A must stop for anyone in the area.

Then we ventured through Warwick, across the Darling Downs, towards Kilarney to visit the Queen Mary’s Falls. I had the privilege of visiting the falls back in May and knew that I would love to visit again. I started Dad and Daniel off with a feeding of the exotic birds. Always an entertaining activity as the multitude of colourful birds swarm you to eat from your hands.

The bird feeding was followed by a walk of the falls circuit to get a nice, up close view of the falls.

Driving from Kilarney to Coffs Harbour was an adventure in of itself. Far from any nicely established highways, we drove through the narrow, ever winding roads of the western Great Divide. It was far from anything most visitors would visit, yet the amazing views, loads of kangaroos, and the small quaint towns made it worth the extra drive. Had I been alone, I would have had to stop every 10 minutes to take more photos.

Finally, after approximately 8 hours of driving we arrived in Coffs Harbour and enjoyed an Aussie treat of Roo Steaks and Bundaberg Ginger Beer.

Tomorrow: Sydney
