As 2017 came to a close I took some time to look through many of my photos from the year as I reflected. I’ve taken around 9,000 photos throughout my ventures this year, and this is just a handful of my favourites. They’re not necessarily masterpieces, but it’s the memories and experiences that come with them that make me love these photos.
So here they are, in a somewhat chronological order.
On February 11th I woke up to the surreal words of “Welcome to Antarctica” over the PA. Not to long after I was treated with this unbelievable view as the clouds hung low, muffling the sound of the world above.
Then there was this unique opportunity to watch as a mother King penguin fed her chick in the Falkland Islands.
Right before the Magellanic Penguins got tender with one another in Punta Tomba.
Then we have Grandma who’s hilarious energy was probably the highlight of our day in Uruguay.
I even managed to convince her to ride a cow hide that day, driven by Jesus. This photo is priceless, I may frame it some day.
Vegemite, Coffee and Jesus. This was how I spent nearly every morning during my time in Brisbane. Lots of carbs, but I made up for it with the B Vitamins in the Vegemite.
Grant, looking epic as ever!
And a bin chicken!
These guys. I have no words. It was such a privilege to share so many adventures with them!
The colourful birds were perhaps one of my favourite things about Australia. Such a variety that you don’t get to see in Canada.
The winding rivers of Sarawak from above.
And one of the greatest photoshoots someone could ask for!
Followed by one of the greatest night skies I’ve ever seen…
One day, we decided to climb a mountain on very, very hot day. It was probably the hardest physical experience of my life thus far. After climbing for roughly 2 hours, this was incredible view from the top. We enjoyed it for 10 minutes before beginning our even longer decent down the mountain.
Some of the nock-off brands made my day in Malaysia. Who would of thought I’d see Spider-Man and the Power Rangers on the Justice League?
This kid.
And my multitasking father.
But hey, can you say your Dad climbed a volcano for you?
Not to long after moving to Vancouver I had an intense moment with an eagle. He stared right into my eyes. Or so I thought.
And with that, I give you this nicely times photo of a complete stranger, paddling out into a lake on his Kayak during an autumn afternoon. (Insert Cheesy quote about paddling into a new year).
