The following are excerpts and recordings of a teaching I did on Luke and Acts in April 2021 for the YWAM Vancouver School of Biblical Studies. A word of warning on the recordings, I did not edit them myself, so at times it sounds a little jumpy to eliminate long pauses, but I assure you all the teaching is there.
The Gospel of Luke, and the Acts of the Apostles loudly announce the core message of the Kingdom of God: That through Christ, Salvation has come for all People. Man and Woman, Jew and Gentile, Righteous and Sinner, Poor and Rich, Slave and Free, Healthy and Sick, Jesus Christ truly proves to be Good News for all People!
In Luke, we once again see the climax of God’s grand redemptive plan for all humankind. And if we truly take that message to heart, and listen to what Luke is saying, it can really shine a light on some dark places in our hearts. It forces us to ask, do we truly desire to see all enter the Kingdom of God? Even the lowest of low? Our enemies?
In Luke and Acts the cost of following Jesus also becomes more and more clear, possibly more than any of the other synoptics. Are we truly ready to abandon it all. for the sake of Jesus Whether is costs us our possessions, our families, or our status? Are we willing to carry our cross in to rejection, persecution, impressment or perhaps even to the point of death?
This story of Jesus, and his Apostles, is full of excitement, hope and fulfillment, we should take great joy in that as we study it. But let us also not neglect the call it comes with, To be witnesses and examples of this Salvation that has come for all people
