Surrounded by a series of seas and accented by the heat of the equator there is an Island in Southeast Asia known as Borneo.
Divided by the countries of Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and the Federal Territory of Labuan; Borneo is home to nearly 20 million people of varying ethnic groups and religions. It’s diverse geography is filled with mountains, swamps, rivers and Ancient Rainforests with a multitude of wildlife including the endangered Bornean Orangutang.
It is on this Island that I, in a team of 5 will be spending approximately 2 months from June into August.
From what I understand so far we will be predominantly staying in Malaysia. Our goal there is to reach out to those not only in the cities, but in the surrounding villages and tribes. We will be helping facilitate and participate in activities such as Youth Ministry, children’s programs, work projects and anything else that is thrown our way.
There are still a lot of details in the air as we are in the early planning and preparation stage, but what we do know for sure is that the 5 of us have felt called and are going to Borneo excited for what God has in store!
Your prayers are appreciated as we go forward in discerning and planning for this next adventure.
I’ll keep you up to date as I learn more.
Until then, we head out on the road this Sunday to begin our series of road trips around Australia.
