Jangkar

As this Monday was a national holiday in Malaysia we had the day off with some time to explore and have a little adventure.

We did so by journeying to the Jangkar Waterfalls with our good friend Uncle Simon.

The Jangkar Waterfalls were approximately a 2.5 hour drive outside of Kuching. Then, following the drive we made the 45 minute hike, up the mountain and through the jungle to the falls, taken away by the scenery every step of the way. The falls themselves contain a series of varying levels with nice pools you can wade in before you approach the main falls at the top. I however didn’t do much swimming, but decided to make the climb up with my camera to get the nicest shots I could. A little risky for my camera at times, but definately with it. It was an amazing adventure and we had a great time getting to further know Uncle Simon! What a perfect way to spend our day off!

For the rest of our week we continued our work with Breakthrough, this time working at the Cheshire Care Center. The Cheshire Care Center is a home for individuals of varying disabilities, working towards their rehabilitation and development of an independent lifestyle. We helped lay the foundation for their new building, and prep the wall segments, then built a new Garden stand for their potted vegetable garden.
